Disney Channel favourite Zendaya cast as Michelle in Jon Watts’s Spider-Man alongside Tom Holland

Sony and Marvel’s co production of Spider-Man is edging closer to the big screen, it has been reported that Disney Channel favourite Zendaya has signed on to play a mysterious character named Michelle.

Zendaya rose to fame in Disney Channel's Shake It Up and she will star alongside new webslinger Tom Holland with Deadline reporting that Michelle is not being described as a romantic interest for Peter Parker.

Holland will debut as the wall crawler in the eagerly awaited Captain America: Civil War this April before his solo outing helmed by Jon Watts, and whilst this solo outing won't be an origin story, it will feature a Peter Parker of high-school age and is due to hit Cinemas on July 7 2017.
