Disney’s Frozen set to get a book series sequel

10 August 2014

Following its mammoth success, not only will its characters appear in ABC's fourth season of its hit show Once Upon a Time and it is being developed as a broadway show, it has emerged that Disney's Frozen will get a sequel as a series of books.

Random House plan to release four books in 2015, to tell the continuing adventures of Anna and Elsa, voiced in the hit film by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel respectively, and will be brought to life in the aforementioned Once Upon a Time by Elizabeth Lail and Georgina Haig respectively.

The first two stories will carry the titles Anna & Elsa #1: All Hail the Queen and Anna & Elsa #2: Memory and Magic will go on sale from January 6, with the plan being to release another two books later in 2015, with a further three or four books to follow each year, moving forward.

Erica David who has previously adapted other popular characters from screen to page including How to Train Your Dragon, The Legend of Korra and Mr Peabody & Sherman will write the stories.

Little is known about the books, however we do know that the first two books in the series will add more detail to the Frozen world and follow Anna and Elsa as they get to know each other better.

Comparing the forthcoming Frozen titles to the Never Girls series which is set in Peter Pan's Neverland, Children's Division President Barbara Marcus said "We have seen our Disney Never Girls series fill a real niche in the chapter book market, and with the momentum for Frozen only continuing to grow, we knew this was the perfect focus for this new series."

Jennifer Lee who wrote and directed Frozen will tackle children's book A Wrinkle in Time for the big screen.
