Djimon Hounsou is the Angel of Death in Alex Proyas’ Paradise Lost

23 August 2011

Djimon Hounsou who is best known for his role of Juba in the Ridley Scott directed actioner Gladiator and was last seen as Caliban in Julie Taymor's The Tempest has joined the cast of Paradise Lost as Abdiel, the Angel of Death.

Directed by The Crow's Alex Proyas, Paradise Lost is based on the epic poem from John Milton and follows the celestial struggle between fallen angel Lucifer and his holier than thou nemesis Michael.
Lucifer hatches a plot to overthrow God following the big guys newfound love for humanity and Hounsou’s Angel of Death brings word of the impending betrayal to the man upstairs who is already aware of the plot.

Hounsou joins a cast that includes Limitless hunk Bradley Cooper as the resentful Lucifer and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’s Benjamin Walker as the angelic Michael.

Proyas will start shooting later this year, using some ground breaking motion capture techniques and the finished film is slated for a 2013 release.
