Don Jon’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt wanted for Marvel’s Doctor Strange

15 July 2013

With a big screen adaptation of Doctor Strange already confirmed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, and the villains revealed to be Dormammu, Baron Mordo and the Mindless Ones, attention has fallen on who will be the Sorcerer Supreme.

Latino Review report that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in the frame to take on the role of the neurosurgeon-turned-sorceror in the Phase Three title, although the actor and his team are "probably unaware" of the conversation at this stage.

Doctor Strange is expected to have a significant role in the films going forward much like Iron Man has currently and it is thought that the character will make a cameo appearance in the October release of Thor: The Dark World.

Edgar Wright's Ant-Man will begin Phase Three, and Phase Two is on going with the release of the aforementioned Thor: The Dark World and next year's release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Gordon-Levitt returns to cinemas with his directorial effort Don Jon alongside Avengers Assemble babe Scarlett Johansson when it hits cinemas in November.
