Edgar Wright exits Marvel’s Ant-Man
Marvel's Phase Three opener Ant-Man has hit a rather large bump in the road, with news that Director Edgar Wright has left the hotly anticipated superhero film.
The joint statement released by Marvel and Wright reads "Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on Ant-Man due to differences in their vision of the film.
The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly."
Wright had been developing Ant-Man since 2006, and the film version of the long running Marvel Comic will star Paul Rudd as a petty criminal named Scott Lang who finds himself able to change size and communicate with insects due to technology created by Dr Hank Pym, who will be played by Hollywood legend Michael Douglas.
Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson, Corey Stoll and Matt Gerald will also feature in the film with Michael Peña in talks to join the film. Ant-Man will be written by Attack the Block's Joe Cornish with music from Gravity composer Steven Price.
