Elijah Wood says The Hobbit is like a family reunion

23 January 2012

The Lord of the Rings franchise star Elijah Wood has described returning to New Zealand for The Hobbit prequels "like a family reunion".

The 30 year old 50/50 star who reprises his role of Bilbo Baggins to reunite with director Peter Jackson and co-stars including Orlando Bloom, Cate Blanchett, Andy Serkis and Ian McKellen tells E! "The opportunity to go back to New Zealand to play that character again... it felt like a family reunion, it felt like stepping back into time. I turned 19 in Hobbiton and I'm 30 now!"

Jackson also gave an update on the shoot adding "It's going great, we're probably two-thirds of the way through shooting and I go back to New Zealand in about two weeks and we start another hundred days of shooting."

The Hobbit prequels will also see Ian Holm, Christopher Lee and Hugo Weaving reprise their roles from The Lord of the Rings, and they join newcomers Martin Freeman, Evangeline Lilly, Richard Armitage, Stephen Fry, Benedict Cumberbatch, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie and James Nesbitt.
