Ellen Page set to suit up as U.S. Marine Leilie Martz in Lioness

08 July 2015

X-Men: Days of Future Past’s Ellen Page has reportedly lined up her latest acting role in true war story Lioness.

The Hollywood Reporter report that Page has signed on to play Lance Corporal Leslie Martz, a US marine who was sent to Iraq to gain the trust of the country's women.

Working as part of a Female Engagement Team, Martz had to strike up a bond with the women and get information from them about their husbands' roles within the Taliban.

She struggled with her mission due to the respect she developed for the women, while also attempting to hide her sexuality from her military superiors.

Developed by James Dahl, the indie film has a script written by Rosalind Ross and is currently looking for a Director.

Page currently has Patricia Rozema’s Into the Forest, Robodog from Donovan Cook and Peter Sollett’s Freeheld in post production, she will lend her voice to the role of Kelly in Ann Marie Fleming’s Window Horses and is filming the title role of Tallulah in Sian Heder’s Tallulah.
