Eve Hewson wins role of Maid Marian alongside Taron Egerton in Otto Bathurst’s ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS

16 October 2015

With a new adaptation of the Robin Hood legend coming to Cinemas, it has been reported that Bono's daughter Eve Hewson will play Maid Marian in Robin Hood: Origins.

Deadline report that The Knick favourite will be the latest Actress to take on the role of the outlaw's love interest following Actresses Olivia de Havilland, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Cate Blanchett.

Word is that Hewson held off competition from more than 100 actresses including Belle's Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Supernova's Gaite Jansen and Vampire Academy's Lucy Fry to win the role in the Taron Egerton starring film.

Written by Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur scribe Joby Harold under the Direction of Peaky Blinders helmer Otto Bathurst, Robin Hood: Origins has reportedly been inspired by Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, and sees Robin return from the Crusades and fight corruption in Nottingham with his band of Merry Men.

Expected to hit Cinemas in 2017, Robin Hood: Origins will begin production next year after Egerton has finished filming the sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service with Leonardo DiCaprio serving as a Producer on the film through his Appian Way company.
