Ewan McGregor abandons directorial debut

28 December 2011

Scottish born actor Ewan McGregor who is known for Trainspotting, Rogue Trader, the Star Wars prequel trilogy and Moulin Rouge! has reportedly abandoned a film project set to serve as his directorial debut.

McGregor who will next be seen in Steven Soderbergh's high octane action thriller Haywire tells Nylon Guys that he wanted to work on the film with his production designer wife Eve Mavrakis explaining "My wife was going to design it, I wasn't going to be in it, and then I found out someone else is doing it. I was gutted."

However McGregor hasn't given up hope of making the transition bend the camera adding "I think it would be so fascinating and satisfying, but I don't pretend... I would be starting right at the bottom."

Haywire opens in the UK on January 18 and features Gina Carano, Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Michael Angarano, Bill Paxton and Mathieu Kassovitz.
