Ewan McGregor rumoured to reprise Obi-Wan Kenobi for Disney’s Star Wars: Episode VII

17 August 2013

Whilst there is no solid casting yet for the eagerly awaited J.J. Abrams directed Star Wars: Episode VII, a rumour has surfaced hinting at the return of Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Following the notion earlier this week that Ian McDiarmid will return to the franchise as Senator Palpatine in "Sith Ghost" form, and according to Latino Review sources have confirmed that McGregor will appear as a Force Ghost, in similar fashion to how Obi-Wan's ghost featured in the original Star Wars trilogy and was played by the late Alec Guinness.

It is thought that Abrams may use CGI to place McGregor into past footage featuring Guinness, mirroring the way Hayden Christensen was included in Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

Last year, McGregor said he would be "happy" to return to the franchise if he was needed.
