The Fan Carpet share our Magical Experience at the IMAX 3D opening of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

21 November 2016

Friday night saw J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them open in IMAX and Cinemas across the country, and The Fan Carpet had the opportunity to see the return to the wizarding world in glorious IMAX 3D at the prestigious Cineworld (pka Empire) in London’s Leicester Square.

From the outset the IMAX 3D experience of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is, and excuse the pun ‘magical’, you are really transported into the World of the roaring 20’s with the immersive picture and sound, as advertised ‘watch a movie or be a part of one’ is exactly what you get.

As for the film itself, it is incredible, it is well paced and the characters are superb with Eddie Redmayne’s Newt as the clear stand out, although I did find myself getting attached to Dan Fogler’s Jacob. In fact all of the principal cast are brilliant, I thought the sister interplay between Katherine Waterston’s Tina and Alison Sudol’s Queenie was wonderful. And the Beasts themselves are adorable with the Niffler being the stand out, the duck-billed type creature is adorable, and come Chistmas he'll be a MUST HAVE Plush Toy!

Everyone plays their roles incredibly well, and even right down to the reveal (which I won’t spoil here, although you probably already know it), I thought the story was awesome, and judging by the start of this franchise it is in the best hands with the talented team of J.K. Rowling, David Yates and David Heyman behind the scenes!

The spell-binding music from the incredible James Newton Howard adds another dimension to the film adding to the immersive experience.

As we know, there will be five films in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise with Yates at the helm, well at least he wants to do them, so it’ll be awesome, with this strong a start to the series, I can see the series going from strength to strength, just like the Harry Potter series. Should you get the chance to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in IMAX 3D, I would strongly recommend it!

Continuing the trend of top film studios incorporating IMAX DNA into major blockbusters to provide moviegoers a truly unique experience, exclusively in IMAX® 3D, key visual 3D effects from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will break beyond the widescreen frame line to take full advantage of the IMAX screen. The filmmakers used the effect to enhance the IMAX 3D presentation for a more immersive, engaging and fun audience experience.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in IMAX 3D will transport fans into the wizarding world like never before, and the below graphic highlights the 3D visual benefits for IMAX moviegoers.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

Starring Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Carmen Ejogo, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton with Jon Voight, Ron Perlman and Johnny Depp, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is out NOW.
