Fan Favourite Simon Pegg cast as Orgen Morrow in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ernest Cline’s READY PLAYER ONE
He’s well known for his roles in the Mission: Impossible, Star Trek and Star Wars franchise, as well as the ever popular Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, and word is that fan favourite Actor Simon Pegg has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One!
According to Variety, Pegg has been chatting with Spielberg about being cast in his future sci-fi thriller Ready Player One, which is based on the 2011 novel by Ernest Cline, that is set in the year 2044, humans have come to favour an alternate universe, Oasis, to the real world.
When the creator of a popular video game system dies, a virtual contest is created to compete for his billions. A contest users are willing to kill to win.
Should Pegg sign on the dotted line, he is intended to play Orgen Morrow, the co-creator of Oasis alongside Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’s Olivia Cooke as Samantha Evelyn Cook aka Art3mis, X-Men: The Apocalypse’s Tye Sheridan as teenager Wade Owen Watts aka Parzival, who competes in the aforementioned virtual contest.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Mississippi Grind’s Ben Mendelsohn has been cast as Nolan Sorrento, the villain of the story.
Slated for release on March 30 2018, Spielberg will direct from a screenplay by Zak Penn and Eric Eason.
Pegg returns to Cinemas as Scotty in Justin Lin’s Star Trek: Beyond and voicing Buck in Ice Age: Collision Course this July.
