Felicity Jones wins lead role in The Invisible Woman

02 December 2011

British acting sweetheart Felicity Jones, who has starred in The Worst Witch, Northanger Abbey, Brideshead Revisited and Cemetery Junction has nabbed the role of Ellen Ternan in the big screen adaptation of The Invisible Woman.

Chalet Girl star Jones reportedly beat out the likes of Carey Mulligan, Imogen Poots and Abbie Cornish to secure the role as Charles Dickens' mistress.

Based on the novel by Claire Tomalin that chronicles the secret thirteen year long affair of Ellen and literary legend Charles Dickens it will begin shooting early next year with Coriolanus director Ralph Fiennes taking the helm.

Ellen, or Nelly as she was known to Dickens, was only 18 when she met the 45 year old A Christmas Carol author and the affair lasted until until Dickens' death in 1870.

Fiennes has ruled out playing the author himself so the hunt is on for someone to take on the role of Charles Dickens.

Jones was last seen in Albatross and will next be seen alongside Anton Yelchin and Jennifer Lawrence in Drake Doremus' Like Crazy on February 3 and has Hysteria ready for release and has Donald Rice' Cheerful Weather for the Wedding in post production.
