Fifty Shades of Grey’s Jamie Dornan to play soldier in wartime drama Anthropoid

02 March 2015

Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan will star in wartime drama Anthropoid.

Dornan will play a Czechoslovakian soldier who plots to assassinate the SS officer Reinhard Heydrich as part of Operation Anthropoid.

The operation involved two Czechoslovakian paratroopers who attacked Heydrich’s car in Prague. Before dropping into the Nazi occupied country the two received training from British forces.

Although initially the attack appeared unsuccessful, Heydeich died several days later from his wounds. His death resulted in the massacre of thousands of civilians by the SS in revenge.

The Sean Ellis film will also feature Peaky Blinder’s star Cillian Murphy.

Elis has co-written the film with Anthony Frewin.

Speaking to Screen Daily, Ellis said "I feel incredibly proud to bring the story of Anthropoid to the big screen. In the Czech Republic, it is a story of great national pride, and it's time to tell the world that story."

Filming will begin in July.

Till then fans can catch Jamie Dornan as Mr Grey in 50 Shades of Grey, which is out now.
