First images of Poltergeist reboot featuring Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt released

Those Tele-terrors from Poltergeist are set to haunt audiences once more.
USA Today launched images of the rebooted version from director Gil Kenan and producer Sam Raimi today.
This time the camera lens focuses upon the Bowen family. Dad Eric (Sam Rockwell), mum Amy (Rosemarie DeWitt) and kids Kendra (Saxon Sharbino), Griffin (Kyle Catlett) and Madison (Kennedi Clements), the latter of whom becomes the interest of the supernatural invaders.
The family move into a suburban home, which they discover demands more work and attention than they first thought. The structure is a channel to the spirit world through a variety of portals.
"The thing that keeps them a family is what they have to draw on, to stay sane, and also to win Madison back," says Gil Kenan. "The film is super-scary. And it's scary on its own terms. I am excited to finally be able to share that with the world."
The original film was released back in 1982 and earned classic status within the horror movie genre. The director is ready for the standard knee-jerk response to the word “reboot” being used about a respected film.
"Whenever someone approaches material that's so beloved, there's a reflexive reaction to be worried," says Kenan. "It's a responsibility we take very seriously. We're working to make a Poltergeist film that lives up to the original's legacy."
There is probably no time better than now to remake a film that commented on the power of technology over modern life than now. "The original film commented on how we've let television get out of control, babysitting our kids," Raimi tells the paper. "It's only gotten worse with the handheld portable devices. Screens are everywhere."
Poltergeist’s trailer is scheduled to arrive online tomorrow.
