First Look at Elizabeth Banks as the villainous Rita Repulsa in Dean Israelite’s Power Rangers re-imagining
With a Power Rangers re-imagining coming to Cinemas next year, the first look at Elizabeth Banks as the villainous Rita Repulsa has emerged online, and the new look to Rita looks rather striking in green and gold.
Quite the menacing character, no less: As Rita Repulsa, Banks is decked out in reptilian-like green getup and hair, with menacing gold talons to match.
Talking to People, Banks said "I've never played a villain before. It's definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa. We wanted to give her a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers."
In the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Rita gave life to the Green Ranger who was decked out in a green and gold suit, he operated the Dragon Zord, with the re-imagined look of Rita, many fans have speculated that she is either a former Ranger or she creates the Green Ranger in her image.
Directed by Dean Israelite, Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must step up when their small town of Angel Grove is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat.
Set for release on March 24 2017 by Lionsgate, Power Rangers will introduce a brand new set of Rangers played by Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger and Becky G as the Yellow Ranger.
