First Look at Paloma Faith starring as Portia Poodle in Disney Channel’s New Animated Series 101 DALMATIAN STREET

02 April 2019

The series stars Paloma Faith who voices Portia Poodle, Ben Bailey Smith as Sid Squirrel and Spencer Sausage Dog, Olly Murs as Spike the Cornish Doberman and Stephen Mangan as Doctor Dave

Currently airing on the Disney Channel every Monday to Thursday at 5pm

In the episode, one of the main characters, a Dalmatian called Dylan, is desperate to win over his uber crush, hot dog, Portia (voiced by Paloma). But when he finally gets the girl, it’s a case of be careful what you wish for.

Paloma Faith says of voicing Portia “I’m voicing a poodle who is dark, intense and has tons of attitude. She is pretty much the coolest pup in Camden Town and loves taking centre stage when drama happens. As you can imagine Portia is hugely entertaining to voice and just one of many wonderful and colourful characters that are part of this incredible new series.”

Orion Ross, Vice President, Head of Animation, Digital and Acquisitions for Disney Channels EMEA says on casting Paloma Faith “When we were looking for the right voice to bring Portia Poodle to life, we immediately thought of Paloma. Her character, Portia is the unobtainable object of lead dog, Dylan Dalmatian’s affections - she is super-sophisticated, has a very strong sense of style and even stronger opinions. Being a style icon in her own right, a successful singer and a Londoner through and through, we didn’t even think about casting anyone other than Paloma for the role, and we’re delighted with her performance.”

The exciting new series will introduce a new generation of children to the wonderful, spotty world of Dalmatians, with 101 Dalmatian Street inspired by Dodie Smith’s timeless 1956 novel and Walt Disney’s classic 1961 film, 101 Dalmatians. The launch follows a special episode that aired in December 2018 which introduced audiences to the unique characters and world of 101 Dalmatian Street.

Aimed at girls and boys, the new series has been reimagined for the 21st century and is set in modern day London. The series follows the adventures of eldest Dalmatian step-siblings Dylan and Dolly, their parents Delilah and Doug, and their big barking blended family of 97 younger brothers and sisters, whose names also begin with ‘D’. With two working parents and no human owner, there’s a lot of pressure on Dylan and Dolly to keep the home in order, despite the fact that they’re still just kids who want to do their own thing.

101 Dalmatian Street stars Paloma Faith who voices Portia Poodle, Ben Bailey Smith (Doc Brown) as Sid Squirrel and Spencer Sausage Dog, Stephen Mangan as Doctor Dave and Jack Binstead as Delgado who has wheels for back legs. Their voices will be joining Josh Brener as Dylan (Silicon Valley, Star Wars Resistance, The Big Bang Theory), and Michaela Dietz as Dolly (Steven Universe, Barney & Friends) who voice the eldest Dalmatian step-siblings.

Mixing up domestic comedy with urban adventures, extreme sibling rivalry and puppy mayhem, the series explores growing up and finding your own spot within the turmoil of the biggest, messiest, furriest blended family anyone has ever seen.

101 Dalmatian Street launched on Disney Channel on the 18 March at 5pm with new episodes every Monday to Thursday.
