Football icon David Beckham tipped for Matthew Vaughn’s The Secret Service

03 August 2013

Following word that Samuel L. Jackson has scored the villain role in Matthew Vaughn's The Secret Service, comes word that legendary footballer David Beckham is reportedly considering making his acting debut in the espionage thriller.

The Sun quote sources close to the film as saying "Becks was asked by Colin Firth if he'd like to be in the movie but he is yet to fully commit.

He loves movies and fancies appearing on the big screen - but just as a one-off, not a full-time career."

It has been reported that since Beckham retired from football earlier this year, he has been bombarded with scripts for various screen roles.

The source added that Vaughn wants Beckham to star as he feels it "will raise the profile of the movie to such heights, everyone will want to see it."

The Secret Service will also see Sir Michael Caine and newcomer Taron Egerton will feature in the film.
