Future Of Film 2020 Summit Announces Exclusive Sustainability Partnership With Waterbear, The First Interactive Streaming Platform Exclusively Dedicated To The Future Of Our Planet
FUTURE OF FILM, in partnership with WATERBEAR today announces Film’s Future is Sustainability: the summit’s dedicated session which will explore the steps filmmakers and productions can take to achieve a sustainable practice, what role new technologies could play and the importance of purposeful and diverse content for audiences.
Professor Lyndsay Duthie, CEO Production Guild of Great Britain, will guide a panel discussion between Sam Sutaria, Head of Strategy at WaterBear, Emelie O'Brien, CEO and Founder of Earth Angel and Melanie Dicks, CEO, Fingerprint Content and Co-founder, Greenshoot as they discuss how film itself can influence change in the world.
Sam Sutaria, Head of Strategy, WaterBear, said “I’m really excited to be part of the Future Of Film Summit, and to discuss the power of film to drive change, and the role WaterBear Network will play in moving us towards a greener industry.”
Emelie O'Brien, CEO and Founder of Earth Angel, said “With the future of our planet in peril, every single industry faces the challenge of rapid decarbonization. The entertainment industry is hugely visible and has the greatest cultural impact on our lives. Not only do we have a moral obligation to use that influence to accelerate society toward a sustainable future, but we must address our environmental impact if we want to sustain the industry itself. There is no film on a dead planet.”
Melanie Dicks, CEO, Fingerprint Content and Co-founder, Greenshoot, said “I’m delighted to be speaking on the panel ‘Film’s Future is Sustainability’, about how Fingerprint Content harness the power of film to champion stories about climate change and social issues, how this is a really effective way to mobilise movements and propel progress - and also how Greenshoot plan to build upon our first decade of pioneering sustainability initiatives across the creative industries.”
Professor Lyndsay Duthie, CEO Production Guild of Great Britain, said “I am proud to be moderating this important session ‘Film’s Future is Sustainability’ for the Future of Film Summit. As film and television production restarts after global lockdowns, it has given us all time to reflect on what we do and our approaches to production. Sustainability is a complex subject, but we need to be bold, lead the agenda and innovate in how we create film and television.”
With Future of Film’s most ambitious and extensive programme yet, the virtual edition will utilise multiple channels and initiatives to bring together the pioneers of film who define the future of the industry across three critical strands: Storytelling, Innovation and Reimagine. From keynote speeches to panels, debates, live Q&As and in-depth workshops and bespoke networking, the summit is dedicated to exploring the groundbreaking technologies, creative processes and commercial models that are revolutionising film in the new landscape.
Alex Stolz, Future of Film, Founder, said: "Sustainability is integral to any future for film so we are excited by this partnership with Waterbear - and the opportunity for our audience to learn and be inspired by these incredible speakers trailblazing new paths for sustainability in film and the world"
