Galaxy Quest helmer Dean Parisot set to take on RED

With the success of RED a sequel was always on the cards for the veteran-agents-take-on-their-former-employers action comedy and now it seems that a director has been chosen to tackle the project.

After it was reported that writers Jon and Erich Hoeber had been hired to write the script comes word that Dean Parisot has taken the helm, replacing Robert Schwentke.

Parisot last directed Jim Carrey comedy Fun with Dick and Jane in 2005 and also brought us the brilliant sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest.

Filming of the sequel is expected to kick off later this year, with a release penciled in for August next year and word is that Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich are expected to reprise their roles.
