Game of Thrones – out on DVD and Blu-ray on March 5 – Hot Girls

27 February 2012

HBO HOME ENTERTAINMENT is proud to announce that one of this year's most talked about TV series is coming to DVD and Blu-ray. It is available to pre-order from 7 December ahead of its 5 March 2012 release date. Featuring a stellar cast of British acting talent including Sean Bean, Emilia Clarke and Mark Addy, GAME OF THRONES is a HBO original series based on the international best-selling books by George R. R. Martin.

Combining a mythical world with a generation of family feuds, bloody war, treachery, murder, lies and lust, GAME OF THRONES has defined a world so unique, complex and compelling that any preconceived notions of the genre fall away. It has created an 'accessible fantasy' epic for the small screen, which became the most watched show* on Sky Atlantic this year.

The noble households are continuing a dark and ancient battle for control of The Iron Throne in a medieval kingdom in turmoil. Some look to the battlefield, some magic, others their powers of manipulation and cunning in a bid to rule the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. Yet behind the Northern Wall lies a bigger threat and Winter is coming...

Created by BAFTA® award nominee David Benioff (The Kite Runner) and nominated for 13 Emmy® Awards, prepare yourself to be immersed in pure escapism by pre-ordering your copy ahead of the UK release on 5 March 2012. The DVD and Blu-ray editions are packed with bonus features including a Making of Game of Thrones featurette, Character Profiles, Inside the Night's Watch and seven episode commentaries.

To celebrate the Blu-ray and DVD release of Game of Thrones: Season One, IGN sneaks a naughty peak at the good looking (often naked) characters that star in the epic fantasy series...

Daenerys Targaryen / Emilia Clarke

The only daughter of King Aerys II and Queen Rhaella Targaryen; younger sister of Crown Prince Rhaegar (deceased) and Viserys Targaryen, and the exiled claimant to the Iron Throne of Westeros.

Daenerys was born during the closing days of Robert's Rebellion after her father and eldest brother had already been killed. Queen Rhaella and her younger son, Viserys (now Aerys' heir), were evacuated to the ancient family seat on the isle of Dragonstone shortly before the King's death. There, Queen Rhaella died giving birth to Daenerys in the midst of a violent storm, earning Daenerys the moniker "Stormborn."??Before the Targaryen heirs could be turned over to Stannis Baratheon, brother to the new King Robert, Ser Willem Darry and four other loyal men spirited the two youngsters away to relative safety across the Narrow Sea to the Free City of Braavos.

Ser Willem looked after the children until he died several years later, and they were forced into a difficult and lonely exile in poverty. In time, they made their way to the city of Pentos, where the wealthy Magister Illyrio Mopatis took them in as guests in his household.??At the start of the series, Illyrio and Viserys arranged a marriage between Daenerys and the powerful Khal Drogo in return for promises of an army to reconquer the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.

Cersei Lannister / Lena Headey

Cersei Lannister is the Daughter of Lord Tywin Lannister and Joanna Lannister, wife of King Robert Baratheon and Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Occasionally called Cersei Baratheon, she was forced into wedlock by her father for political gain.

Cersei is recognised in Game of Thrones for her incredible beauty, blond hair, tantalising green eyes and slender body. Cersei has three children, Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen; it is later exposed that her children are in fact a result of an incestuous relationship with her brother, Jaime. Although Cersei appears to show great concern for her children, it is impossible to call her a good mother.

The incestuous relationship with her twin brother causes problems throughout the first season. After Jon Arryn died, Cersei goes to Winterfell with her husband, Robert. Robert goes on a hunting trip, but Cersei stays behind with her brother. When the two are caught in an intimate embrace by Bran Stark, Jaime shoves the boy off a tower to avoid exposing the siblings’ secret.

Doreah / Roxanne McKee

The former Hollyoaks babe is cast as Doreah, one of Daenerys Targaryen’s three slaves. Doreah’s sexuality is a prominent feature of her person and she is seen as a sexual authority by other characters in the series. Daenerys even goes to Doreah for advice on how to satisfy her Khal Drogo and gain his respect.
At one point in the series, Viserys forces Doreah to perform a sexual act on him. Afterwards, Viserys drags Doreah round his campsite because it was she that asked him to join the dinner table and not Daenerys. Doreah exemplifies Game of Throne’s beautiful female characters, which are subjugated to abuse by the authoritative men.

Irri / Amrita Acharia

The sultry beauty makes her debut in the second episode. Irri is a Dothraki slave, given to Daenerys Targaryen by her brother, Viserys. Irri is one of three handmaidens, who take turns tutoring Daenerys on Dothraki language and custom.

The Dothraki are warriors from the region of Essos and they are known for their horseback skills.  Their warfare skill is also recognised and the nomadic tribe uses swords and bows to wound and kill their enemy. Daenerys demands that Irri teaches her how to ride like a Dothraki.

Game of Thrones: Season One is released on Blu-ray and DVD on 5th March 2012
