Gemma Atkinson is swapping Hollyoaks for Bollywood with Fever

02 October 2011

Former Hollyoaks siren Gemma Atkinson who also appeared in long running crime drama The Bill is on the verge of entering Bollywood with a film called Fever.

The gorgeous British actress and lingerie model is said to have replaced Barbara Mori in the role and according to producer Ravi Agarwal "The logistics of bringing Barbara down were prohibitive. It wasn't working out commercially. Plus, I was strongly of the opinion that we needed a fresh face for the role, and that's the reason we replaced her."

Atkinson spoke to The Times of India and explained why she went for Fever "I loved the script, it has everything: love, murder and action. The Bollywood film industry is so glamorous.
For me, it was about discovering another side and seeing how things in Bollywood are done."

She also revealed that she learnt Hindi for the role with the help of a tutor adding "Learning Hindi was extremely hard. I'm still not fluent but I understand my lines in the script, which is important. I want my lines to come across well on-screen."

Since leaving the Channel 4 soap Atkinson has appeared in films such as Baseline, 13Hrs and The Sweet Shop. She'll next be seen opposite Richard E. Grant as Hannah in How to Stop Being a Loser when it hits cinemas later this year.
