Glee producer Brad Falchuk says Finn, Rachel and Kurt will return for Season 4

24 July 2011

Amid the growing speculation about the future of three of the best loved characters on global hit Glee, co-creator and executive producer Brad Falchuk has spoken during the standing room only crown at the San Diego Comic-Con panel about the future of Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith.

It was thought that because their characters Finn, Rachel and Kurt are graduating they would be leaving the show at the end of season 3, but according to Falchuk “Here’s the exact thing: [Rachel, Kurt and Finn] are seniors, so they’re graduating, but because they’re graduating doesn’t mean they’re leaving the show. If you have Lea Michele under contract, you don’t say, ‘We’re gonna let you go.’” Plus, the EP pointed out, “A number of the original [cast members' characters] are not graduating this year. It was never our plan or our intention to let them go…. They are not done with the show after this season.”

However the future doesn't look bright for Chord Overstreet, according to Falchuk they offered Overstreet a deal to return for 10 episodes with an eye towards becoming a series regular at midseason, but the 22-year-old actor declined adding “We did invite [Chord] back for a portion of the season … to see if being a regular was a possibility. But he declined the offer, which we were really disappointed by.”

Cory Monteith will appear in the Selena Gomez starring Monte Carlo on October 21 while Lea Michelle will star in th Garry Marshall directed follow up to Valentine's Day entitled New Year's Eve when the ensemble romantic comedy hits cinemas on December 9.
