Guillermo del Toro completes Justice League Dark script

26 November 2014

With Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment building their Cinematic Universe, it has been reported that Guillermo del Toro has turned in his script for the long awaited Justice League Dark.

Forbes report that the prolific filmmaker, who recently announced that two key cast members were returning to Pacific Rim has delivered the screenplay to Warner Bros.

Tentatively titled Dark Universe it will star the supernatural characters from DC Comics including John Constantine, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Deadman and Etrigan the Demon.

Dark Universe was not part of the announced slate of DC Comics adaptations, so at this point we don't know if it will tie into the rest of the universe.

Neil Gaiman has hinted that the forthcoming adaptation of Sandman which has Joseph Gordon-Levitt attached to star, could be part of a separate slate of Vertigo comics adaptations.

Many of the characters in Justice League Dark have featured in Vertigo comics, which for many years were considered separate from the main DC line of superheroes.

A prevailing theory is that Warner Bros. intend to set up multiple film universes and bring them all together for a Crisis on Infinite Earths type storyline. However, that's just speculation, Warner Bros. have not confirmed Dark Universe yet.
