Hitman: Agent 47 – Out Now – Memorable Movie ‘HITS’

26 August 2015

HITMAN: AGENT 47 centres on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research – and forty-six earlier Agent clones -- endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.

To celebrate the release of Hitman: Agent 47 in cinemas now, we’re looking back at some memorable movie hits in films. The most memorable and gripping movie assassinations will differ from person to person, yet these are the ones we felt are most frequently mentioned and instilled into our minds...

THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM (2007)

Cause of death: Shot through the head by a sniper

English director Paul Greengrass’ signature use of handheld cameras helps heighten the tension and gives the scene a frantic tone, consequently keeping the audience sat on the edge of their seats.

Similar to Hitman in that Bourne searches for information about his past before he was part of the Operation, as does Katia in the Hitman Agent: 47.

UNNAMED TARGET IN THE MECHANIC (2011)

Assassinated by: Arthur Bishop

Cause of death: Held underwater in a swimming pool

With a specific mind set and assigned targets, The Mechanic (Jason Statham) is compared to a machine (a link back to Hitman). Full of action scenes and a partner who is in their learning stages-similarly to Katia- the Mechanic is in the right field to act as a comparison/competitive title.

SHOOTER (2007)

‘Sniper at the summit,’ with immaculate precision U.S. Marine Corps veteran Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg) wipes out a gunman at long range and swiftly takes off an enemies arm. This scene shows precision and patience at its best, leaving the viewer astounded by the assassin’s skill.

JACK REACHER (2012)

The opening scene of Jack Reacher is what puts it on this list- using an involving point of view shot through the crosshair of a snipers rifle we are immediately put into the scene.

SONNY CORLEONE IN THE GODFATHER (1972)

Cause of death: Machine gun ambush

One bullet to the head is never enough for Mafia films, as we see in this classic where a swarm of hitmen flank a tollbooth.

HITLER IN INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS 2009

Tarantino delivers this stylish mass assassination of Hitler in a form of Jewish vengeance. Tarantino goes into overdrive with fire and gunshots, and as a result tears Hitler’s face is torn apart by bullets.

PRESIDENT JOHN F KENNEDY IN WATCHMEN (2009)

Assassinated by: Edward Blake

Cause of death: Gunshot

This gritty superhero film directed by Zac Snyder (300) features a beginning sequence that involves characters from the film in real life historical events. This one in particular stands out as JFK’s death already had enormous speculation around it and this just builds on it.
