Hollywood heavyweights Jeremy Renner, Natalie Portman and Javier Bardem keen to star in Ridley Scott’s The Counselor

11 March 2012

Since it was announced last month that Michael Fassbender has signed on to Ridley Scott's The Counselor, rumour has it that three Hollywood heavyweights are set to join the film.

While it isn't confirmed, word is that Avengers Assemble hero Jeremy Renner, No Country For Old Men's Javier Bardem and Black Swan Oscar winner Natalie Portman are said to be circling the film.

Collider report that the three heavyweights are all keen to sign up with the legendary director with Portman thought to be in line to play Fassbender's fiancée.

It remains unclear if Bardem and Renner are both after the role of the drugs pusher villain of the story that will see Fassbender as a highbrow lawyer who falls into the world of illegal drugs while on a case.

Bardem is currently filming the highly anticipated Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond adventure, while Renner will next be seen as Hawkeye in Josh Whedon's Marvel Avengers Assemble. As for Portman, she's been busy looking after her new born and is set to star in Lawless from filmmaker Terrence Malick.
