Hugh Grant hasn’t committed to third Bridget Jones instalment

19 February 2012

Golden Globe winning Rom-Com king Hugh Grant who is known for the likes of Notting Hill, About a Boy and Two Weeks Notice has reportedly confessed that he has not been won over by the sprits for the third entry in the Bridget Jones franchise.

According to the Cloud Atlas star, he and his fellow cast members Renee Zellweger and Colin have not signed on for the sequel as the drafts for the screenplay have yet to "hit the bullseye".

He tells Total  Film "I did like playing Daniel Cleaver, but there is no definite part three, none of the three of us have signed up yet.

There's been a number of drafts that have had great things in them but haven't quite hit the bullseye.

But they're working on it again now with yet another writer, as soon as they get to a good point we will do it, I'm sure. It's just that it does have to be significantly reinvented."

Tentatively titled Bridget Jones's Baby, the third instalment has been in development hell for a while due to script issues earlier this month and will now start shooting later this year, however some sources claim that the project is "basically dead" following the departure of Bridesmaids director Paul Feig in October.

Grant was last seen in Did You Hear About the Morgans? in 2009 and will next voice Pirate Captain in The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists which arrives in cinemas on March 28, he also has the ambitious Tom Tykwer, Andy and Lana Wachowski film Cloud Atlas in post production.
