Idris Elba will return as Heimdall in Alan Taylor’s Thor sequel

17 January 2012

Following his Golden Globe win for BBC crime drama Luther, Idris Elba has confirmed that he will reprise his role of Norse god Heimdall in the forthcoming sequel to Thor from Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor.

He is currently filming Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim and tells MTV News "Thor 2 for sure, we're going at it again." However he also reveals that he has yet to meet with director Alan Taylor.

Elba also confirmed that he so far has had no involvement with Joss Whedon's The Avengers which features his Thor co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston.

Elba will next be seen in the high octane sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance on February 22 with Nicolas Cage returning as the titular anti hero and then on June 1 in Ridley Scott's eagerly awaited Prometheus with Noomi Rapace.
