James Gunn confirms Karen Gillan’s Nebula return in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2

06 April 2015

It has been confirmed by prolific Director James Gunn that Doctor Who alumni Karen Gillan will reprise her role of the alien villain Nebula - the adopted daughter of Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, the eagerly awaited superhero sequel from Marvel Studios.

Taking to Periscope, Gunn offered updates to fans questions on the live-streaming video app and added that he has come up with a way for Gillan to play the role without shaving her head, Gunn also confirmed that Lee Pace's villain won't be returning adding "Ronan is a bad guy, we killed him, not everything is going to happen in the movies the same as the comics."

Gunn also confirmed that he is "very, very far along" with the script for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 having completed 70 pages explaining "I turned in my treatment, I'm going to meet about it on Friday and we will start working on the screenplay next week."

Gunn also confirmed that the sequel will film in Pinewood Atlanta Studios instead of London and the shoot will begin in February 2016 for a release on April 28 2017.

Gillan has Harris Goldberg’s The List awaiting release and Ti West’s Western In a Valley of Violence in December.
