Jason David Frank set to return to Tommy Oliver for Lionsgate’s Power Rangers

25 September 2014

Following the announcement that Roberto Orci has left Lionsgate's Power Rangers film, it has been revealed that original Power Rangers star Jason David Frank will feature in the forthcoming reboot.

According to ComicBook.com, Frank is expected to return to his role of Tommy Oliver who debuted as the Green Ranger in the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and went on to evolve into the White Ranger, Red Zeo Ranger, Red Turbo Ranger and Black Dino Thunder Ranger across several different Power Rangers shows and films.

"I don't know how much I am involved, but for sure cameos at least in the reboot movie, they are so tight-lipped on that project, it's ridiculous. I don't even know my involvement into it. They talked to me about being involved, and the fans would love to see me involved.

We were originally talking about a Green Ranger series, but unfortunately just due to the Lionsgate movie they don't want to overshadow anything or suppress the appetite of the fans, which is a little disappointing. But there's still possibilities of it. I think they are trying to save my appearance for the Lionsgate movie."

Set to open on July 22 2016, Power Rangers will be written by X-Men: First Class screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.
