Javier Bardem drops out of Despicable Me sequel

It is being reported that the sequel to 2010's animated hit Despicable Me has lost new of its new additions in the form of Javier Bardem.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar winning Spanish actor was in talks to provide the voice of the villainous El Macho but apparently talks with Universal broke down.

The reasons for the departure of the No Country For Old Men actor hasn't been disclosed.

The original Despicable Me starred Steve Carell, Russell Brand and How I Met Your Mother's Jason Segel who are expected to reprise tier roles.

Bardem is currently filming Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond adventure with Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Albert Finney and Helen McCrory which is due in cinemas on October 26 while the sequel to Despicable Me is slated to arrive in July next year from filmmakers Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud.
