Joss Whedon discusses Ultron characterisation for Avengers: Age of Ultron
With Avengers: Age of Ultron announced as the title to the eagerly awaited sequel to Avengers Assemble, filmmaker Joss Whedon has discussed the characterisation for the film.
The news took Comic-Con by storm when it was announced earlier this year that the living automaton who first appeared in a 1968 issue of Avengers would feature as the villain and speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Whedon explained "I knew right away what I wanted to do with him, he's always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he's got a bee in his bonnet.
He's not a happy guy, which means he's an interesting guy. He's got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff."
Whedon went on to confirm that he will strip away some of the powers Ultron possessed in the comic books, to avoid overlap with the new character of Scarlet Witch adding "We'll take away some of those powers because at some point everybody becomes magic, and I already have someone who's a witch.
As a character, I love Ultron, because he's so pissed off."
While there is no news on the casting for Avengers: Age of Ultron, it has been rumoured that Elizabeth Olsen is in the frame for the role of Scarlet Witch following Saoirse Ronan dismissal that she had been cast in the role.
