Joss Whedon reveals Wasp was in an early Avengers Assemble script
With his Avengers Assemble sitting at the top of the UK box office and just days away until the US market see the release of the epic superhero team up, filmmaker Joss Whedon has revealed that Wasp appeared in an early draft of the script.
He tells the New York Daily News that the heroine was originally part of the titular superhero team's roster but was subsequently dropped in favour of Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and he said "Trying to figure out the way you want to introduce all those characters, that was stuff we were still tweaking in the edit."
Wasp was a founding member of The Avengers in the Marvel Comics universe and along with another founding member Ant-Man was omitted from the film. It is thought that Wasp will debut in the long awaited Ant-Man solo film from filmmaker Edgar Wright.
Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives fame was once linked with the role of Wasp following reports that she had met with Marvel Studios, it later emerged that she was meeting with studio executives for a different project.
