Joss Whedon says The Avengers is very much his own

With shooting of the eagerly awaited superhero team up The Avengers well underway, prolific fan favourite filmmaker Joss Whedon sat down for a chat about his upcoming Marvel team up that hits cinemas in 2012.
Speaking to Total Film the Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator said “You have to respect the realities of the other movies, but visually this is very much my own thing. My style is very comic-book-like anyway, so I’m trying to do things the way I always do."
The Avengers sees heros Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) leaving their solo films behind to fight alongside each other, with the support of Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).
Plot details for the film are being kept under lock and key, but Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki has said he will be the main antagonist.
