Julianne Moore in talks to play the famously savage mother in Columbia pictures’ Carrie remake

17 April 2012

It has emerged that four time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore is "speaking closely" to Columbia Pictures regarding the role of Carrie's famously savage mother in the forthcoming remake of the Stephen King Classic.

Word via Bloody Disgusting is that she is rumoured to follow in the footsteps of Piper Laurie who played Margaret White in the original film which centres on an adolescent outcast who begins to exhibit latent telekinetic powers.

Kick-Ass heroine Chloe Moretz was recently confirmed in the title role of Carrie White in Kimberly Peirce's remake beating out the likes of Haley Bennett, Dakota Fanning, Emily Browning, Bella Heathcote and Lily Collins.

Moore isn't the only high profile name linked to the role of Margaret White, as it was previously released that Jodie Foster was linked to the role.

As for Moore, she is currently filming The Seventh Son alongside Ben Barnes and Jeff Bridges and she has The English Teacher and What Maisie Knew in post production.
