Justin Timberlake joins Specific Media in buying Myspace

30 June 2011

Talk about life imitating art! It has emerged that Justin Timberlake who played Napster founder Sean Parker in The Social Network has joined Specific Media in buying its downtrodden rival MySpace from News Corp. in a deal that closed Wednesday.

According to Specific Media CEO Tim Vanderhook, Timberlake will have an office at MySpace's Beverly Hills headquarters and a staff of about a half dozen people working for him "around the clock" developing his ideas for the site.

Speaking to The Associated Press, Vanderhook said "When we met with Justin and we discussed what our strategy was, we hit a chord with him, one of his passions is he really enjoys helping other artists and creating a community for people to really express themselves. I think we were blown away that we were able to get someone like Justin to be so excited about what we were doing."

Timberlake has two films out this year, the first being the comedy Friends with Benefits from director Will Gluck and co starring the gorgeous Mila Kunis which opens on September 9 which is followed by Andrew Niccol's sci-fi thriller In Time alongside the delicious Amanda Seyfried on 1 November.
