Kate Beckinsale and Katherine McNamara Dive Into Shark Survival Thriller WHITE From FrightFest Veteran Jake West

15 May 2026

FrightFest veteran Jake West is heading into shark-infested waters with White, a new survival action-thriller starring Kate Beckinsale and Katherine McNamara.

The film follows Willa Harba, a struggling actress travelling overseas for a shoot with a self-obsessed movie star, when their private jet crashes into the Pacific Ocean.

Stranded alone on a fractured plane wing, surrounded by nothing but open water, Willa’s only connection to the outside world is a satellite phone recovered from the wreckage.

When she tries to call for help, her demanding studio boss Barbara, played by Beckinsale, dismisses her pleas. But the signal is soon intercepted by marine biologist Sam Swatek, played by McNamara, who delivers the nightmare news: Willa has crashed in the middle of the infamous White Shark Café, a remote region of the Pacific where great white sharks are known to gather.

Casting is currently underway for the role of Willa, with principal photography set to begin this summer across Bulgaria, England and the United States.

Written by Dan Schaffer, creator of the cult comic series Dogwitch, White is produced by Yariv Lerner, Dominic Burns, Crawford Anderson-Dillon and Sky Morfopoulos, with Beckinsale also executive producing.

For genre fans, the combination of Beckinsale, McNamara and Jake West makes this one especially worth keeping an eye on — and with West’s long-standing FrightFest connection, White already feels like exactly the kind of sharp, survival-driven thriller that could make waves with the right audience.
