Washington who is known for roles in Ray, The Last King Of Scotland and the Fantastic Four films has entered into negotiations with producers The Weinstein Company.
Broomhilda is the wife of the titular Django (Jamie Foxx) and the woman who inspires his rampage of revenge.
Django Unchained is slated for release on Christmas Day next year and features the cast of Samuel L Jackson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kurt Russell and Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio as the villainous Calvin Candie.
