Kevin Smith says Ben Affleck’s Batsuit is mind-bending
Clerks franchise creator Kevin Smith has revealed that he has seen an early image of Ben Affleck in the Batman suit for Zack Snyder's Superman vs Batman.
Smith hosted the special Man of Steel Fan Event, and talking on the Hollywood Babble-On podcast after the event, Smith said that Snyder gave him a sneak peek at Affleck's Batsuit for the eagerly awaited follow up "He pulls out his iPhone and he shows me something that, I'm not kidding, I went glassy-eyed and weak in the knees, I saw the Batman costume. I saw a picture of Affleck in the costume. I instantly air-hugged him."
Speaking more in depth about the new Batsuit, Smith added that it was a departure from previous screen incarnations of the suit and hinting that it was inspired by a particular comic book storyline explaining "You have not seen this costume on film before - for a comic book fan it was mind-bending, everyone always does this Matrix-y armour thing... there wasn't a single nipple on this suit. It was fantastic.
The costume, it blew my mind. I think you'll be happy, everyone will be like, 'Holy s**t'. It's its own thing, we haven't been down this path before."
Superman vs Batman will hit cinemas on July 17 2015 and features the return of Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne and Henry Cavill as Superman.
