Killer Elite hard man Jason Statham rumoured for Transformers 4

With Michael Bay and Shia LaBeouf moving on from the smash hit Transformers franchise and Paramount keen to keep the robot rumbles going could Jason Statham be the man for the job?
According to Showbiz Spy the British action heavy weight is poised to take the lead in Transformers 4 and take the series in a new darker direction.
Right now this is just rumour that has possibly come about since Statham is currently dating Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who played love interest Carly in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Meanwhile Statham will be seen alongside Hollywood legend Robert De Niro in Killer Elite from director Gary McKendry when the action thriller comes to UK cinemas on September 23.
