Cast of new Sky Atlantic drama The Nevers arrive in London

New drama The Nevers, follows a supernatural event that rocks Victorian London, leaving a select few with abnormal abilities - from the wondrous to the disturbing

Commuters were transported back in time today Laura Donnelly (Outlander), Ann Skelly (Vikings), James Norton (Grantchester) and Zackary Momoh (Seven Seconds) took a Victorian style car for a drive in London.

The actors took a spin down the Southbank in the Victorian era racer to mark the arrival of the new TV show The Nevers. City workers and cyclists looked on in surprise as the cast sped through the city testing out the prop from the series.

 

 

The cast were in town to launch the new drama The Nevers which airs on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW from 17 May. The drama, set in the Victorian era, focus on a group of women who find themselves with unusual abilities following a supernatural phenomenon.

The eagerly anticipated show, starring the aforementioned cast alongside Nick Frost and Eleanor Tomlinson, is set in Victorian London, which is rocked to its foundations by a supernatural event which gives certain people - mostly women - abnormal abilities, from the wondrous to the disturbing. But no matter their particular “turns,” all who belong to this new underclass are in grave danger. It falls to mysterious, quick-fisted widow Amalia True (Laura Donnelly) and brilliant young inventor Penance Adair (Ann Skelly) to protect and shelter these gifted “orphans.” To do so, they will have to face the brutal forces determined to annihilate their kind.

In the last years of Victoria’s reign, London is beset by the “Touched”: people - mostly women - who suddenly manifest abnormal abilities - some charming, some very disturbing. Among them are Amalia True (Laura Donnelly), a mysterious, quick-fisted widow, and Penance Adair (Ann Skelly), a brilliant young inventor. They are the champions of this new underclass, making a home for the Touched, while fighting the forces of… well, pretty much all the forces - to make room for those whom history as we know it has no place.
