Laurence Fishburne is Perry White in Man of Steel
With the principal cast in place for Zack Snyder's Man of Steel comes the reveal that none other than The Matrix trilogy's Laurence Fishburne has nabbed the coveted role of Perry White.
White is the editor-in-chief of The Daily Planet and first made an appearance in Superman issue number 7 and the character has traditionally been white, and while his casting is sure to spark some debate following the complaints about Idris Elba in Thor and everyone remembers the fuss made about Michael Clarke Duncan playing The Kingpin in Daredevil.
However, White's racial background is far less important than his character of a tough but fair authority figure, qualities that Fishburne has in spades after his best known role as Morpheus in the aforementioned trilogy and his most recent role as Dr. Ray Langston on CSI.
Man of Steel starts shooting in autumn for a June 2013 release and Fishburne joins an impressive cast of Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix and Antje Traue.
