Legendary Actor Kurt Russell is reportedly the top choice to play Star Lord’s Dad in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

James Gunn will soon begin production on the eagerly awaited Guardians of the Guardians Vol. 2 and word is the The Hateful Eight legendary Actor Kurt Russell is the top choice to play Peter Quill’s Father.

The Wrap report citing multiple sources, that Marvel has not officially offered Russell the coveted role as of yet, and Russell hasn’t read the script, but meetings are expected to take place soon.

Russell and Marvel have not commented on this report.

2015 has seen Russell feature in Fast & Furious 7 and the acclaimed horror Western Bone Tomahawk as well as nabbing a key role in Peter Berg‘s Deepwater Horizon alongside Daddy’s Home star Mark Wahlberg.

Guardians of the Guardians Vol. 2 will see Chris Pratt return as Peter Quill aka Star Lord as well as Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan as Gamora, Drax and Nebula with Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel as the voices of Rocket Raccoon and Groot respectively.

Set for release on April 28 2017, Guardians of the Guardians Vol. 2 will also feature the return of Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Michael Rooker as Yondu and Sean Gunn as Kraglin as well as rising star Pom Klementieff who joins the cast as Mantis.
