Leonardo DiCaprio likes playing complicated characters

17 December 2011

With the release of Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar just over a month away, biopic star Leonardo DiCaprio has revealed that he likes playing "complicated" characters.

The Hollywood A-lister explained "I've never doubted the material I've been drawn to. I don't do a film because I feel it's time to do a comedy or a science-fiction or another genre.

I do it because I'm motivated, it interests me, and I feel as if I could be of service to the character. And I like complicated characters."

He also adds that he has enjoyed the experience adding "Like 'The Great Gatsby', 'J. Edgar' led to a million questions I wanted answered, and it got me excited to research the character."

DiCaprio has had a varied career starring in the likes of Romeo + Juliet, Titanic, The Man in the Iron Mask, Gangs of New York, Shutter Island and Inception. He is currently filming Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby and is gearing up to play the baddie in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained which is due out on December 26 next year.
