Leonardo DiCaprio rumoured for villian role in Django Unchained
There is a rumour going around on Twitter that Hollywood heavyweight Leonardo DiCaprio has landed the role of main villain Calvin Candie in Quentin Tarantino's long awaited Spaghetti Western Django Unchained.
According to the Tweet from Creative Screenwriting editor Jeff Goldsmith “DiCaprio WILL play villian Calvin Candie in Tarantino‘s Django Unchained!” adding “QT wanted him for I.B. & now has him!”
Depending on which source you believe, Tarantino either wanted DiCaprio - or DiCaprio lobbied Tarantino - for the Hans Landa role in Inglourious Basterds, before the multi-lingual Christoph Waltz won the part.
It's early days but the casting news is certainly exciting but Django Unchained has room enough for both actors, with Waltz confirmed for the role of Dr Shulz, leaving main villain Calvin Candie open for DiCaprio.
So far the cast includes Will Smith or Idris Elba as the titular Django with the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Keith Carradine, Franco Nero, Treat Williams and Nicky Katt all rumoured for roles in the eagerly anticipated film.
