Leonardo DiCaprio took paycut to appear in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar

03 November 2011

Three time Oscar nominated Hollywood leading man Leonardo DiCaprio reportedly took a 90% paycut in order to appear in Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar biopic.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter Eastwood said DiCaprio is more interested in artistic fulfilment than big-budget blockbusters stating "He could have made a lot of money just doing spectacle movies with all kinds of CGI, but he wants to vary his career, like I've always looked to vary mine as a director."

Apparently the Titanic actor reduced his $20 million (£12.6 million) to $2 million (£1.3 million) to take on the role of the FBI head in his first collaboration with Eastwood.

J. Edgar comes to UK cinemas on January 20 and features Ed Westwick, Judi Dench, Josh Lucas and Naomi Watts.
