Lionsgate and Haim Saban make deal to reboot Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for the big screen

Lionsgate and Haim Saban have reportedly struck a deal to bring a new live action film based on 1993's iconic television series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to the big screen.
The new franchise will reportedly re-imagine the Power Rangers as a group of high school kids with unusual super powers, who must learn to harness their abilities as a group in order to save the world.
In a statement, Saban said "Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level.
They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from The Hunger Games to Twilight and Divergent.
In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we're confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own."
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was brought to the big screen in 1995 featuring the cast of Karan Ashley, Jason David Frank, David Yost, Amy Jo Johnson, Johnny Yong Bosch, Steve Cardenas and Paul Freeman as the villainous Ivan Ooze.
