Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B), a premier next generation global content leader, announced today that it will be launching international sales on the Ink Factory financed and produced action thriller Hotel Artemis, starring Academy Award winner Jodie Foster (Silence of the Lambs, The Accused) at the upcoming Berlin EFM (European Film Market). WME Global is handling US rights.

Acclaimed writer Drew Pearce (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, Iron Man 3) will make his directorial debut from his own script.

Best Picture Academy Award nominee Marc Platt (La La Land, Drive, Wanted) will produce alongside Adam Siegel (Drive, Lost River), and The Ink Factory’s Simon Cornwell and Stephen Cornwell (The Night Manager, A Most Wanted Man).

Set in the near future, a nurse (Foster) who runs an underground hospital for Los Angeles’ most sinister criminals, finds that one of her patients is actually there to assassinate another.

“We strive to populate Lionsgate’s international slate with high quality films from top talent that will work for a worldwide audience. Hotel Artemis accomplishes all of that with Oscar winning actress Jodie Foster, the extremely talented Drew Pearce and our friends and partners Marc Platt, Adam Siegel and Simon and Stephen Cornwell,” said Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group Chairman Patrick Wachsberger and International COO Andrew Kramer. “We are especially delighted to be part of Drew’s debut as a director and to be re-teaming with the brilliant Marc Platt after our successful collaboration on La La Land.”

The Ink Factory’s Stephen Cornwell added, “Drew has written a truly captivating script, creating a dynamic and compelling story with fantastic characters. We’re delighted to be taking this project forward into production and could not be more thrilled to be working with Drew, the amazing Jodie Foster, and the wonderful cast that is coming together around her. It is going to be an exciting journey working with Lionsgate as our sales partner, as well as the unequalled Marc Platt and Adam Siegel as our fellow producers.”

Foster has won two Academy Awards® for her performances in The Accused and The Silence of the Lambs. Notable credits include The Beaver for Summit Entertainment, which she also directed, and Elysium for Sony and TriStar Pictures. Foster most recently directed Money Monster (Julia Roberts, George Clooney), which premiered in Cannes and was distributed by Sony.

Drew Pearce, who is best known for co-writing Iron Man 3 for Marvel Studios, his work on Pacific Rim, Godzilla, Sherlock Holmes 3 and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, also wrote and directed the celebrated Marvel One-Shot film All Hail the King, starring Sir Ben Kingsley. He will Executive Produce the original screenplay Secretary’s Day for Sony Pictures Entertainment and The Billion Brick Race: A Lego Movie for Warner Bros.

Wachsberger, Kramer and Lionsgate Motion Picture Group EVP’s of International Sales Wendy Reeds and Crystal Bourbeau, both based in the Company’s London office, will lead the Lionsgate team at Berlin. Lionsgate’s 2017 EFM roster also includes Participant Media’s Entebbe and Captive State.
