Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword filmmaker Guy Ritchie is reportedly in talks with Disney for the eagerly awaited Aladdin live-action adaptation!

Variety report that Sherlock Holmes franchise Producer Dan Lin will produce through his Lin Pictures company with Jonathan Eirich onboard as an Executive Producer.

The Academy Awards winning 1992 original film was the top grosser of the year, earning $504 million worldwide.

Disney have seen strong performances with its live-action adaptations of animated classics, including Cinderella and The Jungle Book. It’s releasing a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson, next year, and is developing live-action versions of The Lion King and The Little Mermaid.

Ritchie’s next offering, the aforementioned King Arthur: Legend of the Sword hits Cinemas on March 24 2017.
