Logan Lerman set for Percy Jackson sequel

18 June 2011

While Logan Lerman will next be seen as the heroic D'Artagnan in Paul W.S. Anderson's 3D adventure The Three Musketeers, it would appear that a sequel to Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief called The Sea of Monsters is in the works.

Fox 2000 has confirmed that Diary of a Wimpy Kid helmer Thor Freudenthal will take on directing duties with Lerman in place to reprise his role of Percy Jackson.

Christopher Columbas who directed the first outing will step into a producing role with Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski adapting the second book in Rick Riordan’s fantasy series for the screenplay.

The story involves an attack on the camp where Percy Jackson and the demigods reside.
They must then save the camp by going into The Sea of Monsters, where Percy discovers a secret about his family.

The franchise could go somewhere, however it'll be up to the second outing that could appear in cinemas as early as 2012 to prove it can go the distance.
